...people influence me even when they're not around. It's the strangest thing. It's kind of like J.D. from Scrubs, except I wonder what they would do. I still have my J.D. moments once in a while, but they always involve someone else.
Even my grandpa who was given back to the earth five years ago still influences me. And at the time I never thought he would. He was not one to give wise words of advice, or reprimand me. He was just who he was. He'd try to sneak food while he was on his diet, he's have 'two pound babies' when his diaper had to be changed, and the whole lot. Yeah, 'babies'. Hope you know what I mean.
Heck, when I think about it, both of my grandfathers were like that. My other grandfather had an addiction to Shrimp, and my aunts and uncles always had the craziest stories to tell. So, this happened when his kids were all grown-up:
They were on a vacation a few states away from Tennessee and just got back fromm the Golden Corral (buffet restaurant; of course he stuffed himself silly). Well, my grandpa got into his hotel room and went to sleep immediately. He was awakened by a young couple who entered their room and found him sleeping in there. He somehow got in the wrong room! So, he was really confused when these people came in, and refused to leave because he was stubborn. Hotel staff got involved. My family left the hotel very soon after that.
But, the most important thing I've learned from them has been to just be yourself (by audioslave) and to not always take life so seriously (Shawn Spencer's (psych) grandpa).
